Rev. Ronald O. Thompson, Sr.

Reverend Ronald O. Thompson, Sr. is the youngest of seven siblings. He is the son of Pearl D. Thompson and the late Horace Green of Georgetown County, South Carolina. As an avid servant, a thorough witness to the gospel, he was reared as a child in the Greater Saint Stephen AME Church Georgetown, SC. In his youth he received his calling to preach at the age of sixteen.  As he emerged into the preaching of Gods word, it wasn’t until his adulthood he adhered the duties as a ministerial vessel and accepted the call into the ministry. As he operated in his gift as a predestined leader he vividly encourages the youth and guides congregants (young and old) into discipleship- “Building-A-Bridge” of the Lord. He understands the importance of affirming ones individual spiritual growth and managing a Godly church into the promises of God.

He attended Georgetown County School District schools. He graduated from Georgetown High School in the class of 1993. In 1995, he continued his education at Horry/ Georgetown Technical College with a Landscaping & Design certification. He received his license and certification as a Commercial Driving License at NEI in 1997. Later, he started RRI Landscaping Inc. in 1999- 2002. Mr. Thompson careered in trucking logistics as an successful entrepreneur for twenty years as an Owner/Operators of Open Country Trucking Inc. located in North Charleston, South Carolina. In 2017, he retired in trucking logistics and returned to his passion "landscaping."

As a passionate young man and ordained minister of God, he strives constantly for worship growth. He conducted services as an Usher, a Trustee, a Brotherhood member, Deacon and Licentiate Associate Minister. All these spiritual duties held at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church Pawleys Island, SC under the direct leadership of the late pastor Rev. Abraham B. Nelson. He received theological studies at the following institutions: Cathedral Bible College in Myrtle Beach, SC, 2009-2010; Grand Canyon University in Phoenix, AZ, 2010-2011; Liberty University in Lynchburg, VA, 2011-2013 and Luther Rice Seminary in Lithonia, GA. In 2015, Rev. Ronald O. Thompson, Sr. received his Certificate of Ordination by the Cooper River Baptist Association, Charleston, SC and he also spearheads the Local and Foreign Ministry at Mt. Zion Baptist Missionary Baptist Church Pawleys Island, SC under the pastoral leadership of Rev. Mitchell Adger. In January 2013-2016 he was an official Teach My People board member- an after school program affiliated with the Georgetown Country School District educational curriculum, a program that integrates aggressive biblical growth and social and community wellness. He is an active member of the Georgetown Union #1 Baptist Association under the Rev. Elder B. Holmes, Moderator since 2013.

Rev Ronald O. Thompson, Sr. is married to his junior high school sweetheart Terra L. Smalls of twenty-three years. They are proud parents of three children- Ishondi, Ronnesha and Ronald Jr. He is the founder and Head Coach of the local CAROLINA Gators AAU Boys basketball team of Pawleys Island, SC established in 2015. He enjoys spending time with his family, traveling and watching/attending football and basketball games. But most of all he love studying God's Word.

 The Leading LADY

Terra S. Thompson is the daughter of Connie S. Smalls and Joseph Gary, Jr. She the eldest of four siblings. In her youth, she attended Georgetown County Schools. She is a 1992 Georgetown High School graduate. She earned her Bachelors of Art degree at Coastal Carolina University in Interdisciplinary Studies with a concentration in Global Communications. She united her young family under the direct leadership and spiritual worship of the late Rev. Abraham B. Nelson until her adulthood and recently Rev. Mitchell Adger, Pastor. First Lady Terra Thompson is a women that wares many hats. She served as member of Young Women Auxiliary, Floral Committee, Zionette's and Mt. Zion Mass Choirs. She is an avid member of Georgetown Union #1 Baptist Association Women's Missionary and also the National Baptist Convention of America International, Inc. Ministers, Wives and Widows Auxiliaries. She voluntarily donates her time as an active board member for the Pawleys Island Child Development Center.  First Lady Terra Thompson is a women that wares many hats. She served as member of Young Women Auxiliary, Floral Committee, Zionette's and Mt. Zion Mass Choirs. She is an avid member of Georgetown Union #1 Baptist Association Women's Missionary and also the National Baptist Convention of America International, Inc. Ministers, Wives and Widows Auxiliaries. She voluntarily donates her time as an active board member for the Pawleys Island Child Development Center.  "She is clothed with strength and dignity and laughs without fear of the future." Proverbs 31:25

Experience God’s magnificent presence at Covenant Missionary Baptist Church in Georgetown, South Carolina. We flourish as a community of believers by following the Lord’s example. Inspired by the unshakable bond between God and His presence, we thrive by studying His teachings and faithfully serving one another. Our church aims to be an authentic community of Jesus Christ followers living out the Spirit-filled life together. We grow by proclaiming the Gospel and meeting the needs of others through Covenant Missionary Baptist Church relationship. We are fueled by our desire to expand God’s Kingdom through the concept of "Building-A- Bridge." This allows us to connect with multiple congregations with a shared vision and leadership. At CMBC, we will strive for growth in our relationship with God, in the number of people we are reaching for Jesus Christ and in hopes that we will grow in the impact we have in changing our community.

On October 30, 2016, the members of Covenant Missionary Baptist Church, by the vote of the majority, elected Reverend Ronald O. Thompson, Sr. as their second pastor. On November 1, 2016, he gladly accepted his ministerial charge to take them into their divine destiny.
